A Chair Full of Memories: Restoring a Family Heirloom
A lovely customer from Dannevirke brought us her late mother’s chair and some fabric and asked if we could cover the chair in the fabric that she loves.
On close inspection, the existing webbing was unable to be saved. Phil stripped the damaged webbing and replaced it with fresh new elastic webbing. He added a layer of protection to avoid the webbing cutting through the foam as this happens quite often and results in a shorter life span for the foam.
On top of this, Phil fitted new seating grade foam. He added a layer of Tetron around the foam to, once again, reduce the wear on the foam and increase the lifespan of the chair for the client.
Phil cut and fit the client’s fabric to the chair. He finished it off with a quick polish to the timber. The client was so pleased with the results, she had to give Phil a hug.
